Bruce Willis
Bruce Willis, actor and musician, is famous for his wisecracking and hard-edged role in action films. Bruce Willis has been featured in over $2.5 billion dollars worth of films. Walter Bruce Willis was born on March 19, 1955, in Idar-Oberstein, West Germany, to a German mother, Marlene Kassel, and an American father, David Andrew Willis (from Carneys Point, New Jersey) They were living at an United States military base. The family relocated to America shortly after his birth. He grew up in Penns Grove (New Jersey) where his mother worked as a bank clerk and his father worked as an electrician and in the factory. Willis discovered a love in drama during high school and was "discovered" while working in a café located in New York City and then was featured in several off-Broadway productions. He was bartending when a casting manager noticed his charisma and asked him to be the bartender for a small film. After countless auditions Willis contributed minor film appearances, usually uncredited, before being cast as the private watchdog "David Addison" alongside the gorgeous Cybill Shepherd in the smash romantic comedy TV series Moonlighting (1985). The sly and wise-cracking P.I. is considered by some to be a dry run for the role of the hard-boiled NYC detective "John McClane" in the monster-movie Die Hard (1988), in the film, Willis McClane's character battled an uncompromising gang of international thieves in the Los Angeles skyscraper. In the sequel, Die Hard 2 (1990) Willis reprised his role in the role of McClane. The story was set in Washington's Dulles International Airport where a group of rebellious Special Forces soldiers are trying to reclaim an incorrigible South American general. The success of the film at the box office prompted the sequel, Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995) which, this time with co-star Samuel L. Jackson as an unrepentant Harlem shop owner who has been sucked to assist McClane in a bombing campaign during a hot day in New York.
