Summer Bishil Bio

 Summer Bishil was a Pasadena, California native. When she was just three years old, young, her family and her moved to America. Summer was a student at American and British schools in the midst of her family living abroad. She returned to Pasadena just prior to her 14th birthday. Summer was infatuated with the idea that she would become an actor since she was five, took her first acting class at the age of 14. Nine months later, she got an agent as well as an manager and began to follow her career full-time. She is currently pursuing her degree at college in her free time. She was among the stars of the future featured in VanityFair's August 2008 cover feature, "Hollywood’s New Wave: Hollywood's Hottest Kids in Hollywood". Bishil started acting lessons at the age of 14. In just an entire year, she was given a contract by an agent and a manager. Bishil's first role was on the short-lived Nickelodeon television show Just for Kicks, followed by appearances on a variety of other children's shows.Bishil's debut performance was the lead actress in Alan Ball's film Towelhead in 2007, which was a re-telling of the novel with the same title. Dana Stevens, a Slate critic, wrote that "Her performance in a film which, for all its good intentions seems completely fake as well as embarrassing and as if it were an extended PSA regarding inappropriate touching, is the most honest thing." Bob Strauss writes for many Los Angeles newspapers and states that Bishil "...is the top natural film actress ever. In the September 12 Los Angeles Times review, Gary Goldstein stated that Summer Bishil is who is a "...newcomer has an intense and thrilling performance in the role of Jasira. "In 2009, she filmed Wayne Kramer's new project, Crossing Over, starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta and Ashley Judd, a portrayal which garnered praise from Associated Press's Jay Reiner. She was chosen to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan's film The Last Airbender (2010). The sequel never produced.
