Emma Watson

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was the daughter of British parents Jacqueline Luesby (a lawyer) and Chris Watson (a French mother). She made the move to Oxfordshire at the age of five years old and went to the Dragon School. Emma realized when she was six that was going to be an actor. For several years she studied at the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch in which she was taught acting, singing, dancing, and more. She was a stagecoach actress and performed as the role of lead in various Stagecoach productions. Casting began in 1999 for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone 2001 the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling book. Emma was found by casting agents through her Oxford theatre teacher. After eight consistent auditions Producer David Heyman told Emma and the other candidates, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, that they had been chosen to play the three main characters: Hermione Granger, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's first appearance on screen in cinema was in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001). The film broke records for opening-day sales and opening-weekend takings and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. The film's performances as well as those of its young stars were well-received by the critics. The Daily Telegraph, a British newspaper with a large circulation, called her performance "admirable". Then, Emma was nominated for five awards for her role in the film, winning the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress in an feature Film. After the debut film of the highly successful franchise, Emma became one of the most popular actresses across the world. Hermione Granger was her role for nearly ten years in the Harry Potter films. Emma was awarded two Critics' Choice Awards nominations from the Broadcast Film Critics Association.
